Overview
Dynamic product feed lets you build an email product block around a set of high-performing products instead of picking products manually. Choose what kind of products the feed should return, such as Best Sellers or Trending, and Netcore ranks your catalog against that definition every time the feed data refreshes.
Dynamic feeds are built on aggregated product signals across all your users. Every recipient of the campaign sees the same products in the block. This is not one to one personalization.
Why Use Dynamic Product Feeds
- No manual upkeep: Set the feed once. The products refresh with your catalog instead of being edited before every send.
- Five feed types: Choose from Best Sellers, Most Viewed, Trending, Newest Products, and Custom.
- Controlled lookback: Decide whether a feed reflects the last 3 days or the last 90 days of activity.
- Variant or group output: Show each size and color separately, or roll them up into a single parent product.
- Your existing filters: Narrow any feed type down by category, price, brand, inventory, or any other attribute synced in the catalog.
Prerequisites
Complete the following before you create a dynamic feed.
1. Sync your product catalog catalog must be synced to Netcore through Product Catalog Integration (PCI). See Integrate Product Catalog.
2. Complete the Product View and Purchase Configurationellers, Most Viewed, and Trending rank products using what your users viewed and bought. Netcore needs to know two things to do that:
- Which of your events counts as a product view, and which counts as a purchase. Accounts name these events differently, so you select them explicitly in the Product View/Purchase Configuration.
- Which catalog product each event belongs to. This is the product context mapping. It links the product identifier sent in your view and purchase events to the matching product identifier in your catalog. Without it, Netcore receives the activity but cannot attribute it to a product, so it cannot rank anything.
| Account type | What you need to do |
|---|---|
| Shopify accounts | Nothing. The Netcore Shopify plugin syncs the catalog and aligns event identifiers for you. Dynamic feeds become available once the catalog has synced and event data is flowing |
| Non-Shopify accounts | Your integrations team completes the product context mapping. Contact your onboarding or integrations team to set this up |
An event mapped here cannot be deletedOnce an event is set as your product view event or product purchase event, Netcore blocks it from being deleted. Remove the mapping first. This protects dynamic feeds and other features that depend on the same events from breaking silently.
If these prerequisites are not complete for the catalog you select, the dynamic feed types are unavailable and you are prompted to contact your onboarding or integrations team. Custom feeds are unaffected and continue to work as they do today.
How Dynamic Feeds Work
- e aggregates your signals. Product views and purchases are totaled per product in the background. Feeds are never calculated from raw events at the moment you open the editor, which is what keeps the editor responsive.
- You define the rule once. The feed type sets the ranking logic, the duration sets how far back to look, and your filters narrow the pool.
- Netcore ranks and trims. Products are ranked, your filters are applied on top, ineligible products are dropped, and the top products fill the block.
- The feed refreshes on its own. Results refresh according to the sync frequency of the catalog the feed points at. If your catalog syncs daily, your feed data refreshes daily. Rankings are not recalculated in real time, so a product that sells out mid-morning is reflected at the next sync rather than immediately.
Feed Types and Calculationeed based on the type of products you want to show.
| Feed type | What you get | How Netcore ranks it | Duration applies |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best Sellers | Your top-selling products | Total quantity sold, highest first | Yes |
| Most Viewed | Your most-viewed products | Total product views, highest first | Yes |
| Trending | Products gaining popularity | A combination of product views and quantity sold within the selected duration | Yes |
| Newest Products | Your latest catalog additions | Date the product was added to the catalog, newest first | No |
| Custom | Products selected using your own rules | Your own selection and sort order | No |
What "top-selling" means hereBest Sellers ranks on total quantity sold, meaning the number of units. It does not rank on revenue, on number of orders, or on number of customers. A product sold in two orders of five units counts as ten. Only products that actually sold during the selected duration are eligible, so a product with no sales is never used to fill an empty slot.
Trending looks at views and purchases together, so a product with rising interest can rank even if it has not outsold an established product yet. If only one of the two signals is available for the duration you selected, Trending ranks on the signal it has.
Variant Level and Group Level decides whether variants of the same product compete for a slot or are counted together.
| Display mode | What the block shows |
|---|---|
| Variant level | Every variant separately, so Red Shirt S, Red Shirt M, and Red Shirt L can each take a slot |
| Group level | One card per product, so Red Shirt appears once no matter how many sizes it has |
In Group level, variant figures are combined before ranking rather than after. A product whose sales are spread across six sizes is judged on its combined total, so it can outrank a single variant that looked stronger on its own.
Use Group level when your catalog has many sizes or colors of the same style and you do not want one product filling the whole block. Use Variant level when the specific variant matters to the reader, such as a single color on promotion.
Create a Dynamic Product FeedNetcore CE panel, navigate to Content > Product catalog, and open the Product feed tab.
- Click CREATE PRODUCT FEED.
- Enter a Name, for example
Best sellers, last 7 days. - Enter a Description.
- Select a Catalog. Do this before anything else, because the filters available further down come from the attributes in this catalog.
- In What products should be added in the feed?, choose a feed type.
- In Over what duration, choose how far back Netcore should look: Last 3 days, Last 7 days, Last 14 days, Last 30 days, Last 60 days, or Last 90 days.
- Choose a Display mode, either Variant level or Group level.
- Optionally, narrow the feed down under Show products where. Pick an attribute, an operator, and a value, then use the delete icon to remove a condition you no longer want.
- Save the feed.
Important points to remember
- Last 7 days suits most campaigns. Shorten it for a sale, lengthen it for a slower moving catalog.
- Over what duration appears for Best Sellers, Most Viewed, and Trending only. Newest Products and Custom do not look at a time period.
- Filters apply on top of the feed type rather than replacing it. Best Sellers over Last 7 days filtered to Women's Footwear returns the best selling women's footwear of the past week.
Use the Feed in Emaild does not put products in your email. Attach it to a product block in the Unified Content Editor.

- Set No. of products to the number of products the block should show.
- Adjust No. of images in a row, Product Alignment, and the Style options to suit your template.
- Click Live Preview to check how the block renders, and send yourself a test email to confirm the products resolve as expected.
- Click Save & Next to continue with your campaign.
If the feed is deleted laterA template that uses a deleted product feed shows the error Feed used in this template has been deleted. If the campaign is already running in a journey, the email is dropped while the journey stays active.
Exampleretailer sends a weekly email every Thursday featuring its best-selling products. Previously, the team had to check the week's sales and manually update the products before every send.
With a Best Sellers feed, this is automatic:
- Select the Fashion catalog.
- Choose Best Sellers as the feed type.
- Set the duration to Last 7 days.
- Select Group level to show each style only once, regardless of size.
- Filter the feed to Women's Footwear.
Add the feed to the weekly email template once. Every Thursday, the hero block shows the styles that sold the most units over the previous seven days, without anyone opening the template.
Important Behaviors and Limitations
| to expect | |
|---|---|
| Refresh | Feed results refresh according to the sync frequency of the selected catalog. Daily catalog sync means daily feed refresh. Rankings are not recalculated in real time |
| Empty blocks | If your filters are too narrow, or there is no view or sales activity in the duration you selected, the block renders empty. There is no fallback set of products |
| Partial blocks | If fewer products qualify than the block asks for, the block renders with fewer products |
| Fixed sorting | For Best Sellers, Most Viewed, Trending, and Newest Products you cannot change the sort field or direction, because the feed type already defines it. Custom keeps the sorting it has today |
| Product exclusions | Inactive products and products without an image are left out of the feed output |
| One catalog per feed | A feed only reads the catalog you selected. If you maintain more than one, confirm the feed attached to a template points at the right one |
| Limits | Up to 9 products per product block and up to 10 product blocks per email |
| Channel | Email only |
