Snowflake
Integrate Snowflake with Netcore's CE dashboard.
Overview
Snowflake is a cloud data platform used by data and marketing teams to store, process, and analyze large scale customer data. Businesses use it to centralize data from multiple sources into warehouses, databases, schemas, and tables, then query that data for analytics and downstream systems.
Key features of Snowflake include:
- Cloud Data Warehouse: Store structured and semi structured customer data in databases and schemas, queryable with standard SQL.
- Virtual Warehouses: Run queries and data transfers using dedicated compute resources (warehouses) that scale independently of storage.
- Role Based Access: Control who can read or write specific databases, schemas, and tables through roles.
- Wide Ecosystem Support: Connect to Snowflake from a large range of analytics, BI, and marketing tools, including Netcore CE.
Snowflake is commonly used by data and marketing teams to maintain a single, warehouse level view of customer attributes, such as segments, scores, or lifecycle stages, computed from multiple source systems.
Netcore CE and Snowflake Integration Overview
The Netcore CE and Snowflake integration lets you set up a secure connection with your Snowflake warehouse to import datasets into Netcore CE. By integrating Snowflake with Netcore CE, you can sync customer attributes, events, and transactional data from your data warehouse to power highly personalized campaigns, journeys, and segmentation.
Unlike some other CRM integrations, the Snowflake integration is one directional. Data flows from Snowflake into Netcore CE. Netcore CE does not export data back into Snowflake through this integration.
Benefits of Snowflake Integration
- Warehouse Modeled Customer Data: Bring customer attributes that your data team already models and maintains in Snowflake directly into Netcore CE contact profiles.
- Flexible Table Selection: Pick any warehouse, database, schema, and table you have access to, and preview a sample of the data before importing it.
- Attribute Mapping with Auto Creation: Map Snowflake columns to existing Netcore CE attributes, or create new attributes on the fly if a matching one does not exist.
- One Time or Recurring Imports: Run a single one time import, or set up a recurring schedule so Netcore CE keeps pulling incremental updates from Snowflake automatically.
- List Ready Contacts: Add imported contacts straight to the Netcore CE contact master, and optionally into specific lists, so they are immediately usable in campaigns and journeys.
Use Cases for Snowflake Integration with Netcore CE
- Warehouse Modeled Segmentation: Your data team maintains scores, RFM segments, or churn propensity models in Snowflake. Importing these into Netcore CE contact attributes lets you use warehouse computed segments to power targeted campaigns and journeys.
- Consolidated Identity Sync: When customer records from multiple systems are unified into a single customer view inside Snowflake, importing that view into Netcore CE keeps your contact profiles current for engagement.
- Recurring Attribute Refresh: A recurring import keeps attributes such as loyalty tier, lifetime value, or last purchase date in sync with the latest values computed in the warehouse, without manual re-uploads.
Pre-requisites
- Snowflake account access.
- Read access to the required databases and schemas.
- Warehouse and table permissions for the account you plan to use.
- Network allowlisting, if your Snowflake account requires it.
Before you start, also make sure of the following:
- The Snowflake user you plan to use has access to the required database, schema, and table or view.
- You have collected your Snowflake connection details, for example your account identifier (account locator).
- The selected Snowflake role has read access to the specified warehouse, database, schema, and table.
Connect Snowflake Integration
Follow the steps below to activate Snowflake on the Netcore CE dashboard.
- Log in to the Netcore CE dashboard and navigate to Settings.
- Click Integrations. Under the Data warehouse category, select Snowflake.
- Databricks is listed in the same category. At the time of writing it is marked Coming soon and is not yet available to activate.
- An integration panel opens showing an overview of the integration and its pre-requisites.
- Click ADD INTEGRATION.
Basic Details
The Basic details page appears with the heading "Provide details to complete Snowflake configuration." Enter the following details:
| Field Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Connection name | A unique internal identifier you create to label this specific Snowflake connection. Up to 100 characters. |
| Authentication | The authentication method for the connection. Password is confirmed available. A saved connection named "Snowflake Key Pair Test" suggests a key pair authentication option may also exist, but this was not directly shown. TBD: confirm the full list of authentication methods available in your account. |
| Username | The username of your Snowflake account. |
| Password | The password of your Snowflake account. Use the eye icon to show or hide the value while typing. |
| Account identifier | The account identifier of your Snowflake account, for example NUXBMXS-XL07836. |
| Role | The Snowflake role to use for this connection, for example ACCOUNTADMIN. This role must have read access to the warehouse, database, schema, and table you plan to import from. |
An Instructions panel on the same page repeats the key setup notes:
-
Ensure the user has access to the required database, schema, and table or view.
-
Collect your Snowflake connection details (for example: account locator).
-
Copy these values from Snowflake and fill them in the respective fields.
-
Ensure the selected role has read access to the specified warehouse, database, schema, and table.
-
Click ACTIVATE once all required fields are filled in. The button stays disabled until the required fields are complete.
NoteThe recording does not show whether Netcore CE runs an automatic connection test at the moment you click Activate. TBD: confirm this behavior in your account.
Managing an Existing Connection
Once a connection is activated, it appears with a status badge (for example, Deactivated) at the top of its detail page. Opening an existing connection loads it in view-only mode by default. Click EDIT INTEGRATION to make changes to the saved details. A VIEW DOCUMENTATION link is also available from this screen.
Important Notes and Limitations
- The Snowflake integration is one-directional: data moves from Snowflake into Netcore CE only. There is no option in the recordings to export Netcore CE data back into Snowflake.
- Databricks is listed alongside Snowflake under the Data warehouse category but is marked Coming soon.
- Only the Password authentication method is confirmed from the recordings. Other methods may exist. TBD: verify with your account team.
- To import data using a Snowflake connection you set up here, see Import Data from Snowflake to Netcore.
